Student Credit Cards

Usually students receive their first credit cards during the first year of studying. The possessing of the credit card gives the students a feeling of the independence and excitement. The student credit card usually differs from the ordinary credit cards, so the students have to take into account the distinctions between them.

Usually the students have to sign up the credit card agreement together with a cosigner. In the case of non – payment the cosigner becomes responsible for the debt. Besides, the students must have minimum level of income. The students have to pay attention that there are two main types of credit cards for students: secure credit cards and regular credit cards.

The secured cards work like ordinary credit cards, but the client has to deposit half of the credit limit. Usually the lenders require 150 % of the credit limit amount. Besides, some lenders require paying different fees, so the students have to be very attentive while they read the terms of the agreement. There are many different offers, so each student can choose the offer which will suit all needs, wishes and requirements of the particular student.

The clients have to tale into account the level of interest rates. Usually the interest rates on the student credit cards are higher that on the ordinary credit cards, because the students usually do not have credit history and credit score. Besides, the students have to pay their bills in time and not to exceed the credit limit. In this case the lender can increase the interest rates up to 25 – 28 %. Because of this the main rule for the students is to use the credit cards according to all rules and to pay the bills in time.

If the student uses the credit card in the proper way, he can receive different types of rewards. When the student uses his credit cards, he accumulates the virtual points in the same time. In the future these points can be exchanged on food, discounts, gas, gift certificates and medicines.
